Fly Roller chain lubrication in a car body paint shop

Initial situation

A vehicle production company encountered issues with their fly roller chain lubrication process. The lubricant they previously used failed to penetrate the interior of the rollers, remaining on the chain's surface. This led to the contamination of both the fly roller chains and the parts being transported. Maintenance involved a 40-minute lubrication process and an extra cleaning cycle every 4 weeks to keep the chains clean and ensure clean part transport. The annual maintenance costs amounted to €27,160.

Our solution

We proposed Interflon Lube TF (aerosol), a highly versatile, dry-film lubricant with MicPol® technology.

The benefits

Using Interflon Lube TF brought about a range of advantages:

  • Enhanced and capillary lubrication: Interflon Lube TF effectively reaches the depths of the chain, optimizing its functionality.
  • Reduced contamination: the new solution eliminates contamination concerns, ensuring transported parts remained clean.
  • Fly Roller chains are now free from pollution.
  • Extended maintenance intervals: the 4-weekly process is extended to a 12-week interval, while maintaining optimal functionality.
  • Reduced lubricant consumption: less lubricant is needed, reducing costs and environmental impact.
  • Simplified maintenance: chain cleaning cycles are no longer needed, simplifying maintenance operations.

The result

Our unique MicPol technology transformed the customer's lubrication process. Maintenance interventions now occurred every 12 weeks, required less lubricant, and took only 30 minutes instead of 40 minutes, resulting in several economic and operational benefits and notably decreasing environmental impact.

The annual maintenance costs were reduced to €10,345, meaning a significant annual savings of approximately €16,800.
