Interflon food lube ht food grade high temperature extreme pressure lubricating oil

Oils

Oil for chains and machine components exposed to high temperatures and extreme loads

Interflon
Food Lube HT

Interflon Food Lube HT is a long life synthetic lubricating oil with MicPol® Technology. At high temperatures and under very heavy load, moving machine components continue to work smoothly, even after the visible lubricating layer on the outside has disappeared.

Interflon Food Lube HT is NSF H1, NSF 537 and NSF 538 certified, making it fully compliant for incidental food contact.

Key advantages and benefits

  • Long-term lubrication at high temperatures
  • Good performance for demanding conditions
  • Excellent penetration, at high temperatures
  • Resistant to mild acids / alkaline and water wash off
  • Economical in use
  • Very low smoke emission
  • Exceptional friction reduction properties
  • PFAS-free

Product Application Areas
For the lubrication and protection of moving machinery components which are exposed to high temperatures, such as bearings, rollers, chains, wheels, slides and guides.

Frequently Asked Questions

Chain oil can smoke or run dry when chains reach higher temperatures than the oil was formulated for. Several factors can contribute, such as evaporation of the oil, oxidation at high temperature and relubrication intervals that do not match the heat load. Interflon Food Lube HT is a synthetic food-grade oil for long-term lubrication of components exposed to high temperatures, with very low smoke emission. Whether it suits a specific application depends on the chain temperature, the load and how the oil is applied.

Not sure whether your chains need a high-temperature oil?
Ask an Interflon Technical Advisor, entirely without obligation.

Chains in hot zones can wear and elongate faster when heat thins or breaks down the lubricant film between pins and bushes, which allows more metal-to-metal contact. High loads, contamination and washdown can add to this.

With MicPol® technology, Interflon Food Lube HT keeps moving components operating smoothly at high temperatures and under heavy load, even after the visible lubricating film has disappeared. In a published case at a sausage producer, Food Lube HT in the hot zone and Food Lube G220 in the cold zone of a pasteurisation plant together extended duplex roller chain life from 18 to 42 months.

A new high-temperature chain oil can underperform when residues of the previous oil, grease or preservative are still on the components, because these residues can keep the new lubricant away from the contact surfaces. The technical data sheet of Interflon Food Lube HT therefore specifies cleaning the components first with a solvent or alkaline cleaning agent and allowing them to dry before application as poor preparation can reduce lubricating performance and limit emergency running properties.

The choice depends on the temperature the chain reaches during continuous operation, not only on the peak temperature. Interflon Food Lube G220, a food-grade ISO VG 220 chain and gear oil, has a highest application temperature of 100 °C and can withstand short peaks of 180 °C to 200 °C, as found in some industrial ovens. Interflon Food Lube HT is a synthetic food-grade oil for application temperatures from −15 °C to 270 °C, and up to 300 °C for short periods with adjusted relubrication intervals. For chains that run continuously above 100 °C, Food Lube HT is designed for that range.

Interflon Food Lube HT is NSF H1 registered under number 150687 for use in applications with incidental food contact. It also holds ISO 21469, NSF 537 (PFAS-free), NSF 538 (MOAH-free), Halal and Kosher certification. The oil is intended for use in food and pharmaceutical production environments.
