Effective removal of rust and scale from injection molds

Initial situation

A leading multinational beverage manufacturer encountered challenges with their injection molding machines used for producing molds. The external surfaces of the machines and their internal cooling lines were affected by corrosion and limescale build-up. These issues led to several complications:

  • Rust on external surfaces negatively affected cleanliness and posed potential food safety risks.
  • Accumulated scale and corrosion compromised mold quality, resulting in production faults and losses.

Solution

The company switched to Interflon Clean Special, a highly effective cleaning agent based on phosphoric acid. Unlike previous cleaners, Interflon Clean Special is non-aggressive, NSF A3 certified, and safe for use in food-production environments. It efficiently removes rust and limescale without damaging aluminum surfaces, provided the cleaned areas are rinsed thoroughly after application to remove any acidic residues.
