Before & after
Lubrication and protection of an endless screw shaft
Initial Situation
A manufacturer in the textile industry, producing carpets and artificial turf, was experiencing recurring issues with the lubrication of a continuously rotating screw shaft. Using a conventional silicone-based lubricant, maintenance teams were required to clean and relubricate the shaft every week. Despite frequent intervention, textile residues continued to build up, increasing wear and risking production interruptions.
Challenge
- Labour-intensive weekly lubrication
- Persistent contamination from fabric particles
- Inadequate protection against wear, oxidation and moisture
- High maintenance frequency with limited performance
Solution
The customer replaced the conventional lubricant with Interflon Food Lube G (aerosol), a high-performance lubricant with MicPol® technology. Applied to the screw shaft, this dry-film lubricant provided superior adhesion, reduced friction, and effectively repelled contaminants.
Results
- Lubrication interval extended from weekly to monthly
- No residue build-up after 4 weeks of operation
- Reliable protection against moisture, oxidation and wear
- Significant reduction in maintenance workload
The maintenance manager confirmed that lubrication intervals could likely be extended even further in the future. The switch to Interflon Food Lube G has improved equipment reliability and reduced maintenance demands.
