How ILAC and PFAS-free lubricants deliver both reliability and sustainability.

Sustainable maintenance at Moderna Textielservice with ILAC

The maintenance department at Moderna Textielservice in Hardenberg, the Netherlands, is responsible for the reliable operation of numerous installations used to receive, clean and distribute textiles. To keep maintenance costs under control, the team uses ILAC (Interflon Lubrication and Control) – software developed by Interflon. ILAC does not only include lubrication points, but every item that requires regular inspection.

Sustainability as a business driver

Moderna proudly positions itself as one of Europe’s most sustainable textile service providers. The company supplies, rents, cleans and repairs workwear, bed and bath linen, PPE, mats and hygiene products. Sustainability is visible throughout its operations: from an energy-neutral building to cleaning processes that minimise water, energy and detergents.

Lubricants with impact

For Moderna’s maintenance team, sustainability also means reducing energy use and extending equipment life. “With Interflon lubricants we achieve both,” says Luuk Hans, Head of Technical Service.
“Thanks to the low friction, we save energy and extend the life of our machines and installations. For example, in our gearboxes.”
Moderna applies a range of PFAS-free lubricants with MicPol® technology, which reduce friction, resist water washout and support longer service life of critical components.

More than maintenance planning

ILAC goes beyond a standard lubrication management program. The software covers all assets, from machines and lubrication points to fire extinguishers and first-aid kits. Each item can be enriched with detailed instructions, lubricant type, quantities, and inspection notes. Over time, the system builds a complete maintenance history that helps optimise performance and control costs.

Structured implementation

Implementation began with a full plant walk-through by an Interflon specialist together with a Moderna technician, mapping all lubrication and inspection points. The data was entered into ILAC, forming the basis for weekly maintenance schedules. Every intervention, from lubrication to repairs, is logged, creating valuable insights into performance, downtime and labour hours. This provides full control of maintenance activities and a clear view of costs.

User-friendly and reliable

“We are very satisfied with ILAC and Interflon,” concludes Hans. “The software is functional and easy to use, even for trainees. Interflon really delivered a tailored solution. Their people are responsive, open to feedback and quick to provide on-site support when needed.”
