Lubrication of bearings and spindles for multiple heads

Initial situation

The customer, a leading manufacturer of metal sanitary ware, has been facing an issue with the lubrication of the micro gears of their multiple heads. The product being used was leaking from the seals, causing problems.

On average, the customer experiences breakage of two heads per year, resulting in an annual cost of €3,500 x 2 breakages = €7,000.

Additionally, they have to carry out about four interventions per month (costs ranging from €250 to €1,000.00) to replace various components. Based on an average cost of €625 per intervention, the customer incurs a cost of €625 x 4 operations per month x 12 months = €30,000 per year.

Lastly, they perform two repair jobs per week (€ 25/h) that take around 30 minutes each. This amounts to 2 jobs x € 25/h x 1 person x 0.5 h x 4 weeks x 12 months = €1,200 per year.

Our solution

We recommended using Interflon Grease MP00, a semi-fluid lubricating grease with excellent anti-leak features.

Advantages

By implemeting our solution, the customer benefits from the following:

  • Elimination of leakage
  • Cleaner working environment
  • Longer lubrication intervals
  • Reduced bearing and spindle failures

Result

Thanks to our solution, the customer was able to reduce the number of head breakages by half, resulting in a cost reduction of €3,500 per year. Moreover, they significantly decreased the cost of replacing various components from 4 times a month to once a month (4:1 ratio), amounting to €7,500 per year (based on an average cost of €625 per replacement). As a result, the frequency of repair interventions was reduced from twice a week to once a month (8:1 ratio), leading to an annual cost reduction of €150. The customer's annual savings amount to more than €27,000.
