Lubrication of pneumatic equipment
Initial situation
As a result of the moisture present, pneumatic equipment used to pluck the ducks often gets jammed during the production process. Every two months the internal bearings must be replaced, because these jam due to water and rust, stopping the whole process. Repairs take more than two hours. The price of replacement is € 5.000,- and needs to be done every two years.
Our solution
The customer made a wise choice to use Interflon Food Lube PN32 (NSF-H1) with good results. Since the customer started using the Interflon product 18 months ago, no bearing has had to be replaced and no machines have jammed. The customer is currently determining the time after which the equipment need to be replaced. The customer is very satisfied with the results and now uses the product for all pneumatic systems in the production process.

Calculation of savings
The annual costs for replacing bearings before:
6 replacements x 4 machines x 2 bearings x € 13 = € 624,-.
Annual labour costs:
6 interventions x 4 machines x 2 man hours x € 17 = € 816,-.
Total costs for materials and labour : € 624 + € 816 = € 1.440,-
Annual costs in the current situation:
12 litres Fin Food Lube PN 32 x € 39/ litres = € 468,-.
Labour costs for filling the lubrication units:
4 hours per year x € 17,- = € 68,-
Total costs of oil and labour : € 468 + € 68 = € 536,-
Annual savings in the current situation:
€ 1440 – € 536 = € 904,-.
