Lubrication of pneumatic equipment in duck plucking plant
Initial situation
A duck plucking plant was experiencing frequent jamming of its pneumatic equipment due to moisture and rust. This required the internal bearings to be replaced every two months, costing the plant €1,440 per year in bearing replacements and labour costs. The equipment also needed to be replaced every two years at a cost of €5,000.
Our solution
The customer decided to use Interflon Food Lube PN32 (NSF-H1), a high-performance lubricant that is designed to resist moisture and corrosion.
The result
After using Interflon Food Lube PN32 for 18 months, the customer has not had to replace any bearings and the equipment has not jammed. The customer is now determining the lifespan of the equipment, but they are confident that it will last much longer than before.
The customer has also realized significant cost savings by using Interflon Food Lube PN32.
The annual costs for replacing bearings and labour were €1,440:
- 6 replacements x 4 machines x 2 bearings x €13 = €624
- 6 interventions x 4 machines x 2 man hours x €17 = € 816
The annual costs for Interflon Food Lube PN32 are €468 for the lubricant and €68 for labour to fill the lubrication units, for a total of €536. This represents an annual savings of €904.
The customer is very satisfied with the results of using Interflon Food Lube PN32 and is now using it for all pneumatic systems in the production process.
