Cleaning of plastic conveyor rollers in glass processing operations

€77,000 annual savings through reduced wear and maintenance

Initial situation

Two CNC machines at a metalworking facility required full cleaning and relubrication of their telescopic covers every two months. The cause: contamination from chips and coolant accelerated wear on the moving cover surfaces.

Maintenance was labour-intensive and involved the use of aggressive cleaning agents that posed health risks to technicians. The conventional lubricants applied during service offered only limited protection and broke down quickly, resulting in premature wear, sticking or even component failure.

Replacing the covers was both time-consuming and expensive, often disrupting production schedules.

Solution

The facility switched to Interflon Lube TF, a PFAS-free, dry-film lubricant enhanced with MicPol® technology. It forms a durable, low-friction coating that resists wear and contamination, even in environments with metal dust, moisture or high loads.

Benefits

  • One application replaces 2.5 traditional cleaning and lubrication cycles
  • Cover replacement intervals doubled
  • Reduced component wear and smoother cover movement
  • Safer working environment – no harmful cleaners required
  • Lower spare parts inventory and less unplanned downtime

Result

Based on the initial results and the proven performance of MicPol® technology, the customer expects annual savings of approximately €77,000. This is driven by:

  • Extended lubrication intervals
  • Fewer telescopic cover replacements
  • Less production downtime
