Reduced maintenance time for cleaning and greasing crane booms

Lubrication of telescopic crane boom

Initial situation

The hoisting equipment operates in a variety of weather conditions and remains exposed to the elements overnight. The conventional grease used by the customer accumulates dust, forming a base where dust adheres. This mixture drips onto the ground during hot weather and solidifies in winter. Consequently, the crane's functionality is compromised at times. The cranes are lubricated manually by engineers, which is a physically demanding job due to the machine's size. The sliding of crane boom shafts triggers dangerous jolts, causing the load at the hoisting cable's end to swing. Additionally, cleaning the equipment is challenging as the cleaning agent evaporates before the engineers are able to properly clean the surface.

Our solution

We proposed the use of Interflon Grease LS2, an adhesive, water-resistant grease designed for heavy loads and shocks, containing MicPol® particles. This grease prevents excessive dust and sand adherence, facilitating easier cleaning. For effective cleaning, we recommended Interflon Degreaser EM30+ (aerosol).

Result

With our solution, lubricating the booms has been streamlined, requiring only a few hours and minimal grease. The problematic jolting during boom shaft sliding has been eliminated. Our unique MicPol® technology, along with the grease's characteristics, allows for significantly extended lubrication intervals and reduced grease usage, resulting in substantial cost savings. The booms remain clean, preventing dust accumulation in the grease. Rain no longer washes out the grease, and it no longer drips onto the ground in hot weather. Cleaning the booms has become more manageable since Interflon Degreaser EM30+ evaporates slowly, providing sufficient time for effective cleaning of old grease.
