Lubrication of roller bearings of a pellet machine

Initial situation

Sector: dog food processing

The dog food processing plant wanted to reduce the grease costs per ton of finished product. Furthermore, the lubricant used does not last long, is difficult to pump and it is necessary to replace the bearings regularly to avoid breakage and consequent production downtime. The pellet machine has an external crown where 2 rollers turn inwards with an epicyclic movement. Each roller runs on 2 bearings, so in total the machine has 4 bearings.

Our solution

Interflon Food Grease HD2

Advantages

  • Reduced grease costs per ton of finished product.
  • Lower environmental impact.
  • Reduction of machine parts replacements.
  • Increased output.

Result

The Interflon MicPol® technology keeps the components longer lubricated. The dog food processing plant was able to reduce the grease consumption of 153 kg in 40 working days, to 3.42 kg in 43 working days (1:44 ratio).

The expected cost savings, based on the data collected by the customer, is more than € 6,000- per year, without taking account of other saving factors such as the longer service life of the machine parts obtained thanks to Interflon MicPol® technology.
