Switch tip lubrication
Traditional switch tip lubrication methods, such as applying "three dabs of (conventional) grease," are often ineffective and inefficient. The grease can drop off, fail to cover the entire contact face of the switch rail, and build up over time, masking defects and cracks. In addition, the grease can migrate to the back of the switch rail, harden, and prevent the switch rail from locking into place.
A better solution is to use Interflon Grease OG, which provides the rail with a hard-wearing transparent coating. It can be easily applied along the length of the switch rail using an aerosol spray. Interflon Grease OG protects the rail from damage, keeps it well lubricated, and allows for visual inspection of any defects.
