Interflon blir den første produsenten på verdensbasis som oppnår NSF 538 MOAH-fritt sertifisering

I juli 2025 lanserte NSF retningslinjer 538 for MOAH-fri sertifisering og etablerte dermed rammeverk for en uavhengig verifisering av påstander om MOAH-frie produkter. Interflon er stolt av å være den første smøremiddelprodusenten i verden som har oppnådd denne sertifiseringen for MOAH-frie smøremidler til næringsmiddelindustrien. 

Sertifiseringen dekker et komplett utvalg av smøremidler til næringsmiddelindustrien. Dette gir produsenter av matvarer og drikke tilgang til en uavhengig og offentlig sporbar verifisering som støtter krav til mat-sikkerhet, leverandørgodkjenning, etterlevelse og krav til revisjon. 

Hvorfor fokuserer vi på MOAH?

"MOAH" står for Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons. 

Scientific and regulatory attention is focused specifically on this aromatic fraction of mineral oil, particularly certain structures associated with genotoxic and carcinogenic risk. This distinction is important. The concern is not mineral oil hydrocarbons as a whole, but specifically the MOAH fraction.

MOAH-free does not automatically mean MOSH-free (Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons). Interflon also offers lubricants that are free of both MOSH and MOAH, where that is required or preferred. Where saturated hydrocarbons provide the appropriate lubrication properties for the application, Interflon exclusively uses highly refined and purified pharmaceutical-grade white oils, which do contain MOSH but not MOAH.

Independent verification of a long-standing food-safe philosophy

Keeping MOAH out of food-grade lubricants has long been part of Interflon's formulation philosophy. Our complete NSF H1 and 3H lubricant portfolio was already formulated without MOAH, so achieving NSF 538 did not require a change in formulation, but independently verifies an approach already embedded in our product development standards.
